The Matamata Soaring Centre logo was designed by Derry Belcher. The story behind the logo goes roughly like this:
The M represents the Kaimia range of hills and the mountain standing wave and can also be seen as representative of the wings of a bird in flight.
The S is representative of the Waitoa or Waihou Rivers which lead to Matamata but should also be seen as a path leading to the glider which represents the freedom of flight.
The C together with the S form a plinth which is representative of the structure of the organization on which the glider rests.
